For replacing a buckle
There are many different kinds of buckle of this type, so you will probably need to replace both parts (male and female) of the damaged buckle. We have chosen a buckle that enables replacement without any sewing, using the slot for feeding the strap through if there is no free end for it to pass through.,

I bought the buckle with the strap add on's to attach to the bottom of the childs backpack (which is also a fantastic buy). This was to allow my 6 yr old son to easily clip his sleeping bag on and off without having to adjust any tricky straps
