Waterproofing of the fabric
The resistance of a fabric is measured using water pressure expressed in water column mm (test based on ISO 811). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 2,000 mm is able to resist the pressure exerted by 2,000 mm of water (roughly equivalent to a 2 hour rain shower). Waterproofing is expressed in schmerbers (for example 2000 schmerbers).

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard).
