What type of padding is used to provide warmth?
We use recycled wadding (60آ g/mآ² on the arms and 100آ g/mآ² on the body) for insulation to help keep you warm. This synthetic polyester-based wadding traps more or less air, depending on the size of its fibres, to insulate you from the cold.
Which components are added to the padding give it warmth?
In addition to the padding of your jacket, the partially taped seams, the sleeve adjustment and the collar offer even more insulation from the cold and wet, for a greater feeling of warmth.
Coated jacket what are the advantages of this coating?
The coating is a waterproofing material spread over the inner surface of a fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows the water vapour produced by the body's physical activity to escape. So you stay dry for greater comfort while practicing your sport.s4
How is the waterproofness of the jacket measured?
The resistance of a fabric to water pressure is expressed in terms of the height in mm of a water column that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a water resistance of 3000mm therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 3000mm of water.s5
Which of the jacket's features offer protection from bad weather?
The 180 jacket was rigorously developed and assembled to stop water getting in and prevent wind chill, so you can brave bad weather on the slopes (rain, snow, wind, etc). We have checked the waterproofness of this product in practice during different weather conditions over several days.s6
What is the point of the water-repellent feature of my jacket?
The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to allow water to run off its surface without seeping in. This jacket features water-repellent components that extend its weather resistance. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.s7
How can you reactivate the water-repellency of your jacket?
Remember that water-repellency can be restored. To do this, put the jacket in the dryer on a synthetic programme for 10 to 15 minutes. You can also use a waterproofing spray (sold in our stores) spray the product evenly over the entire garment, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours).s8
What is a breathable jacket?
This is a product that can release the water vapour produced by your body when exercising. To see if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) in a standardised ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 180 jacket has an RET of 9. However, it is the technical solutions (zips, vents, mesh) that Wed'ze uses that limit condensation inside the garment and maximise breathability.s9
What is the fit of the 180 jacket?
Regular fit. The jacket has sides that fall straight and remain parallel rather than trying to follow the shape of your body. The interior volume enables this jacket to be worn in combination with a first and second technical layer.0
How should you dress to stay warm on the slopes?
To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-technical-layer rule layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry. Layer 2 or the insulating layer, to keep the heat in. Layer 3 or the protective layer, to protect against bad weather.1
How can I prevent snow from getting in when I fall?
The adjustable jacket hem and elasticated cuffs help to prevent snow and draughts getting in during practice, and particularly in case of a fall.2
A score to compare the environmental footprint of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing and contrasting products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.).Decathlon actively promotes this environmental rating initiative. For more information http//sustainability.decathlon.com/
