Adult Mountain Trekking Merino Wool Liner Gloves - MT500, Asphalt blue

What does the dexterity of a glove refer to?

A glove's dexterity corresponds to its ability to handle objects with ease. Our liner gloves have been given a score from 1 to 5 in a laboratory study. The closer the score is to 5, the more the glove can handle objects in the same way as bare hands. In particular, tests were done to measure how easily it is to get a jacket on and open it with these liner gloves.,

Warmth

When worn under hiking gloves, these liner gloves will give you 3??C of additional warmth. This corresponds to the ambient temperature at which 100% of testers felt comfortable. For better protection, we recommend that you wear gloves over the liner glove.,

How is usage temperature measured?

All our gloves are laboratory-tested using a thermal hand to determine their level of insulation and minimum temperature rating. The minimum temperatures for use (recommended and limit) are the result of a study carried out with a test panel of 23 walkers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5??C to -20??C and 10 km/h winds. These temperatures are only valid in walking conditions.,

How to properly protect your hands from the cold

By applying the layering principle, you can optimise the insulation of your hands. Consequently, by wearing liner gloves in addition to gloves, several air gaps are created around your hands, which provide effective insulation from the cold. To achieve this, the gloves must be big enough not to compress your fingers. This is because the compression slows down the blood flow in the fingers, which prevents them from keeping warm.,

How to keep your hands warm with the right clothing

When active, the body generates heat which is preserved thanks to the thermal insulation of your clothing. If the clothing is inadequate, your body cools and the blood flow to the hands and feet drops in order to keep your upper body warm. Your clothing can therefore play a role in keeping your hands warm.,

Origin of the wool

We use wool from merino sheep bred on farms in South Africa that do not practise mulesing. We built a partnership with a group of breeders (Konsortium Merino) to guarantee respect for animal welfare and the environment. This means we have full traceability, which allows us to guarantee the origin of the wool.More information https//www.forclaz.co.uk/,

How to maintain your merino wool liner gloves

We recommend that you machine wash your Merino wool liner gloves at 30??C on a normal cycle, preferably with liquid detergent.Dry them on a flat surface, away from moisture and all sources of heat. This could damage the fibre and make them lose their shape. Never put them in the tumble dryer. For more informationhttps//www.forclaz.co.uk/,

Handy extra warmth
These gloves are great for either mild weather or under other gloves for extra warmth. They still allow great movement under my florclaz hiking gloves which I use on my bike. Haven't tested them in extreme cold yet as I got them just after the very cold weather.

Merino glove liners
Good enough to wear on own. Fit my long fingers and nails comfortably. Second skin. I will wear under ski gloves and neoprene gloves. Will purchase another pair as hard to find this quality for the price.

Glove affected by walking poles
Used only once, the rugged part between the thumb and index finger has largely disinterested by using walking poles for an easy 8mile hike at Seven Sisters National Park. Likewise, as this is a glove liner, I used an XL glove to cover these as the temperature dropped. Unfortunately the touch screen ability is reduced to less than 10% when using this liner under the Forclaz Adult Breathable Gloves. Not recommended if these are two features you're looking for. Otherwise the merino wool quality is decent, just wasn't good enough for me.

Base layer
In the United Kingdom cold snaps it is only really suitable for a base layer for additional gloves when cycling for example
