The sole design is the result of extensive research carried out in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimises grip and traction. As no two requirements are ever the same, we automatically look for the best compromise for walking on country trails, like a forest path.

Designed for use on country trails

Our hiking shoes are designed for use on country trails. We choose the materials for the sole and upper of our shoes and test them to make sure they’re suitable for walking on country terrain (like earthy forest paths or parks) as well as on hard, stony trails (such as coastal paths). When used on roads, this can lead to the premature wear of your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain walking.

Laboratory tested

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: secure attachment of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, resistance to UV rays, abrasion of the sole and upper components, accelerated ageing. These tests allow us to improve the quality of our products and prevent premature wear of our hiking shoes.

How to choose the right size walking shoe?

Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try several models and sizes if necessary. Check the following two areas of comfort: - the heel seating - the front of the foot on a downward slope Avoid any pressure points when fitting. Feel free to walk around the store. Break in your shoes gradually over the course of a few hikes.

How to choose the fabric of my walking socks?

Moisture must be effectively managed when walking. We sweat, it bound to happen. If your shoe is breathable, it will wick away moisture from your perspiration. It is therefore necessary to choose a light and breathable sock as well. If your boots are relatively waterproof, you will not make the same choice to protect you from the moisture of the rain: choose a sock which will absorb your sweat, and direct it as far as possible away from your foot.

What socks should you wear with the NH500 Fresh shoes?

For these shoes, you will feel comfortable with or without socks. We recommend that you choose a pair of socks made of polyamide, without cotton. Polyamide is a fibre that is specially chosen for its capacity to eliminate moisture. So when you sweat, the socks made of polyamide will eliminate any moisture. Then, your shoes will take over the task of wicking away the moisture to the outside thanks to the ventilated mesh. For this, we recommend the Newfeel WS500 Fresh socks.
